What exactly is Psychoeducation?

I’m glad you asked!  Psychoeducation has long been used in therapy in multiple capacities. It can be used as a component of a treatment such as DBT.  Often it functions as a brief therapy option for family members of people suffering with a mental illness to help with understanding and build coping skills to help support their loved one.  Other times people are just seeking a brief treatment option in which they can learn some coping skills to handle a life stressor.

Good Therapy has a great article on psychoeducation here.

I offer psychoeducation for any of the reasons listed above.  To find out more about psychoeducation’s role in DBT click here.

Whatever reason you have, knowledge is power, and psychoeducation can be a valuable tool in gaining insight and ability to change or cope with life’s stresses.
